MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Keep the approach speed on target
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: gear still up, sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
At the 500 ft gate: gear still up, sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,654 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,654 m of the 2,160 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 909 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Brussels Airport, the Boeing 777-200ER began its journey on runway 07R, taking off with a distance of 2,626 meters, which covered 85% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 188 knots, with a local temperature of 16°C and a gentle headwind of 2 knots. As it departed the Belgian airspace, the aircraft climbed to 33,893 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,797 feet in just 23 minutes, covering a distance of 146 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase started over the English Channel, approximately 3 miles east of Great Wakering, Essex, and lasted for 38 minutes, covering 288 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent over the Irish coast, 4 miles south of Bunclody, Leinster, Ireland, and climbed again 3 miles west of Durrow, Leinster, Ireland. The aircraft then entered a prolonged level cruise phase, lasting 166 minutes, covering 1,278 nautical miles, before climbing again to 35,987 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,806 feet in just 3 minutes. The aircraft continued its journey, entering another level cruise phase, lasting 197 minutes, covering 1,360 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent over the Mexican coast, 1 mile north-west of MMXH Pulticub Airport, and landed on runway 07 at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport, Belize City, with a total landing distance of 1,592 meters, covering 74% of the runway. The touchdown point was 511 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centreline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, covering less than 1 nautical mile in less than 1 minute. The total flight distance was 4,943 nautical miles, taking 571 minutes, and the aircraft used 11,643 kilograms of fuel.
The final approach to runway 07 at MZBZ Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport was initiated from the west, heading 75.0° at 2 nm and 1,776 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a steady descent rate and a stable airspeed. However, the threshold height at 102 ft agl was excessively over target, indicating a slightly high approach path. The threshold speed of 213 kt was also excessively high, suggesting a need for more aggressive descent or a higher approach speed.
The aircraft touched down 511 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 197 kt, which was too fast. The touchdown rate of -285 fpm was fair, indicating a relatively smooth touchdown. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 m from the centreline, which may have contributed to the slightly high threshold speed. Local weather conditions, with a temperature of 30 °C and a headwind of 11 kt, may have also played a role in the approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,592 m was 74% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.6 m from the centreline, which may have been a result of the initial touchdown position. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 72.9%. While there were some areas for improvement, the pilot demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing.
