MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,630 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,630 m of the 2,286 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 773 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a CRJ900, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, taking 6 minutes to cover a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 21R, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 155 knots after covering 50% of the runway's length.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 21°C temperature and a 16-knot headwind from a direction of 210°. The enroute climb started over the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,652 feet above sea level to 33,810 feet, a total increase of 32,158 feet, in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 90 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles west of Lodi, Ohio, and lasted for 33 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 231 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 3 miles northeast of New Castle International Airport in Virginia, with the aircraft descending from 34,133 feet to 3,031 feet in 20 minutes and covering 111 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, this time starting 5 miles southeast of Creedmoor, North Carolina, and lasting for 5 minutes, during which it covered a distance of 10 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 23L at Raleigh-Durham International Airport began from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 227.0° at an altitude of 1,451 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
However, the aircraft was required to perform a go-around at an altitude of 1,158 feet above ground level, followed by another go-around at 272 feet above ground level. Eventually, the aircraft landed safely on runway 23L, with a touchdown point 351 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 125 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -374 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 22°C temperature and a 8-knot headwind from a direction of 199°. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.1 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.8 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance was 1,544 meters, which was 68% of the runway's length.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 9 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 455 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 124 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,343 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The CRJ900 aircraft successfully landed on runway 23L at KRDU Raleigh Durham International Airport, achieving an overall score of 87.2%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 227.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,451 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 142 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 351 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 125 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -374 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.1 meters, which may have contributed to a slightly uneven rollout.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a gentle wind of 8 knots at 199°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach and landing. The total landing distance was 1,544 meters, which accounted for approximately 68% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-centerline by 10.8 meters, indicating a minor deviation from the desired path. Despite this, the landing was considered successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop within a reasonable distance. Overall, the landing performance of the CRJ900 was satisfactory, with some minor deviations from the ideal approach and landing parameters.
