Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,892 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,892 m of the 2,615 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 448 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 23 at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare, Zimbabwe. The takeoff distance was 1,393 meters, which was 30% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 146 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots at 190 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was also 2 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport and continued to an altitude of 34,357 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,438 feet in 27 minutes, covering a distance of 205 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 14 miles south west of Bridge Camp Airstrip in Chiredzi, Zimbabwe, and lasted for 23 minutes, covering a distance of 183 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from an altitude of 35,100 feet above sea level to 5,805 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,295 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 72 nautical miles. The descent started 25 miles south of Massingir Airport in Phalaborwa, Mozambique.
The enroute level cruise started again 12 miles south east of Hazyview Airport in White River, South Africa, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent from an altitude of 5,826 feet above sea level to 3,645 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,181 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The descent started 7 miles north east of White River Airport in White River, South Africa.
The final approach to runway 23 at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport was made from the north east, heading 214.0 degrees at 2 nautical miles and 806 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 23 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 449 meters and a touchdown speed of 125 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -219 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots at 280 degrees. The crosswind was 0 knots, and the headwind was also 0 knots. The total landing distance was 1,814 meters, which was 69% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 481 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 81 minutes. The aircraft used 4,031 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (FAKN) on runway 23. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 214.0° at an altitude of 806 feet above ground level (agl) and 2 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft maintained a good score of 98.5% throughout the landing process.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 125 knots, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 449 meters was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate of -219 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have maintained a more stable rate of descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the final approach. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft maintained its stability and control after touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 18°C and a wind speed of 0 knots from 280°. This meant that there was no crosswind or headwind to affect the aircraft's landing, making the process even smoother.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down on the runway with a good speed and distance. However, there is room for improvement in terms of maintaining a more stable rate of descent and ensuring that the aircraft remains aligned with the centerline during the final approach.
