MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,297 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 574 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 24 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), with a takeoff distance of 1,492 meters, which was 37% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 159 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 24°C temperature and a wind speed of 16 knots at 90°. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 15 knots. After departing from Frankfurt Airport, the enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of the airport, with the aircraft climbing from 1,383 feet above sea level to 31,659 feet above sea level, an increase of 30,275 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 64 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 2 miles south of Hermuthausen Airfield (ED35) and lasted 27 minutes, covering a distance of 179 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile southeast of Lend, Austria, descending from 31,588 feet above sea level to 4,095 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,494 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 101 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 1 mile west of Litija, Slovenia, and lasted only 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent overhead Vinje, Slovenia, descending from 3,991 feet above sea level to 2,482 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,509 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30 at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJLJ) was from the southeast, with a heading of 307.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,239 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 30 was successful, with a touchdown point 156 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 122 knots, but the touchdown rate was excellent at -83 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 19°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots at 130°, with a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,309 meters, which was 40% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took only 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 368 nautical miles, taking 80 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,840 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at LJLJ Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, achieving a score of 98.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south east, heading 307.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,239 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed on runway 30, which has a length of 3,297 meters. The threshold speed was satisfactory at 123 knots, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent. However, the touchdown point was 156 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was slightly higher than ideal at 122 knots. This may have been due to the pilot's decision to touch down slightly beyond the centerline.
The touchdown rate was an impressive -83 feet per minute (fpm), demonstrating excellent control over the aircraft's descent. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centerline, which may have been a result of the crosswind or tailwind conditions.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 130°. The crosswind component was negligible at 0 knots, while the tailwind component was 5 knots. These conditions likely contributed to the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position.
The total landing distance was 1,309 meters, which is approximately 40% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the pilot had good control over the aircraft's descent and rollout. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot had successfully transitioned from the landing phase to the rollout phase.
Overall, the Airbus A319's landing at LJLJ Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport was a successful one, with the pilot demonstrating good control over the aircraft's descent and rollout. However, there were some minor issues with the touchdown point and speed, which may be addressed in future training sessions.
