Flight Score
Departure
Reduce climb power to bring speed back to 164 kt and hold it there.
What happened: Climb speed was 29 kt fast at 193 kt during the climb.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator: 164 kt in the climb
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,710 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 369 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 315 fpm arrival was firm.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320-ceo departed Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) on runway 18. The take-off roll was 1,714 m, 43 % of the runway, and rotation occurred at 150 kt. Local weather was 16 °C, wind 5 kt from 010°, with a 1 kt crosswind and a 4 kt tailwind.
Initial climb to 1,000 ft agl took 26 seconds at an average rate of 1,861 fpm, reaching 200 kt at the top of the climb. The aircraft then climbed from 1,276 ft asl to 34,996 ft asl in 21 minutes, covering 128 nm, beginning 2 nm west of Moerfelden-Walldorf.
Cruise was maintained at 35,000 ft asl for 117 minutes, covering 830 nm, starting 1 nm north-east of Etalle. Descent began from 34,997 ft asl to 1,649 ft asl in 34 minutes over 170 nm, starting 2 nm south-west of Oliveira do Hospital, with a brief level-off at 8,100 ft asl.
Final approach to runway 02 at Lisbon Portela Airport (LPPT) started from 1,347 ft agl and descended to 43 ft agl in 102 seconds. Stabilisation checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway were all met: gear down, landing flap, sink rate, glideslope, centreline, speed, and wings level. The landing gear was lowered at 4,005 ft agl at 192 kt; the final flap position 5 was selected at 2,410 ft agl at 150 kt.
The aircraft touched down on runway 02. Threshold speed was 140 kt, and touchdown speed was 138 kt, noted as a little fast. Touchdown occurred 369 m down the runway with a firm rate of minus 316 fpm. The touchdown point was 3.1 m off the centreline but alignment was very good. No bounce occurred. Total landing distance was 1,306 m, 35 % of the 3,710 m runway. Runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to parking in 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight covered 1,137 nm in 183 minutes and used 7,162 kg of fuel.
