Avoid steep turns at low altitude
Below a thousand feet the aeroplane is slow, heavy and close to the ground. A steep turn loses lift, raises the stall speed and flattens the climb just when the gradient matters most. A normal turn on course is a rate one — fifteen degrees or so, twenty-five at the outside, this penalty is to acknowledge when a turn has stopped being a turn and become a manoeuvre.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,042 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 329 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a quick taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, taking less than a minute and covering a distance of less than a nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 28 at ORNI Al Najaf International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 801 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 144 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 19°C temperature and a wind speed of 7 knots at 327 degrees. The crosswind and headwind components were both 5 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 976 feet above sea level to 27,943 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,967 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 51 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 27 miles north of ORYA Wadi Al Khirr New Air Base, lasting 3 minutes and covering 28 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 21 miles northwest of the same air base, descending from 27,935 feet above sea level to 10,013 feet above sea level, a decrease of 17,922 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 46 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 39 miles south of Z16T Radif Al Khafi, lasting 2 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent 41 miles northeast of OERR Arar Domestic Airport, descending from 9,901 feet above sea level to 3,866 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,035 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise continued 26 miles east of OERR Arar Domestic Airport, lasting 7 minutes and covering 23 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 28 at OERR Arar Domestic Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 285.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,262 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 28 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 328 meters and a touchdown speed of 118 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -455 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 0 knots at 90 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,093 meters, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing process from the runway to the parking area took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than a nautical mile. The total flight distance was 179 nautical miles, taking 42 minutes, and the aircraft used 613 kilograms of fuel.
Aircraft C750 successfully landed at OERR Arar Domestic Airport, achieving a high score of 96.7%. The final approach to runway 28 was conducted from the east, heading 285.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,262 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing safely on the runway.
The landing performance was satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 119 knots, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 328 meters was also within the expected parameters. However, the touchdown speed of 118 knots was slightly higher than desired, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown.
The touchdown rate of -455 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have touched down with a bit too much force. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained good control and alignment during the final stages of the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 0 knots from a direction of 90°. This resulted in a crosswind and headwind of 0 knots, making the landing even more straightforward.
The total landing distance of 1,093 meters was 36% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and efficiently, with a very good runway rollout alignment. Overall, the landing performance of Aircraft C750 was impressive, with only a few minor areas for improvement.
