MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final to bleed speed back to 73 kt before crossing the threshold.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 100 kt, 27 kt above the 73 kt target.
Watch for: Airspeed, targeting 73 kt at the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach that landed joined below the 300 ft gate, after a go-around. The gate assessed on the earlier approach is not shown - it was not the landing's.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,533 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,380 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at Tribhuvan International Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 20, with a takeoff distance of 2,665 feet, which was 28% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 96 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 88°F temperature and winds of 5 knots at 159 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the headwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile south east of Patan, Nepal, and the aircraft climbed from 5,205 feet above sea level to 30,032 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,827 feet in 21 minutes, covering 60 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 7 miles south west of Phaplu Airport, Nepal, and lasted for 27 minutes, covering 122 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent from 30,339 feet above sea level to 11,718 feet above sea level, a decrease of 18,621 feet in 10 minutes, covering 47 nautical miles. The descent started 11 miles north east of Shiliguri Airport, India.
The aircraft then climbed from 11,753 feet above sea level to 12,765 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,012 feet in 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles, starting 9 miles south of Paro International Airport, Bhutan. The enroute descent started 8 miles south east of Paro International Airport, and the aircraft descended from 12,714 feet above sea level to 7,945 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,770 feet in 3 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 33 at Paro International Airport was from the south east, heading 338.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 583 feet above ground level. However, the aircraft performed a go-around at 365 feet above ground level. The landing was eventually made on runway 33, which had a length of 6,533 feet. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was excessively high at 100 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 1,374 feet, and the touchdown speed was 82 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was perfect at -29 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 80°F temperature and winds of 12 knots at 340 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 12 knots.
The total landing distance was 3,427 feet, which was 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing from the runway to the parking took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 245 nautical miles, taking 72 minutes, and the aircraft used 451 pounds of fuel.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at VQPR Paro International Airport, achieving a score of 94.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southeast, heading 338.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 583 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, aligning the aircraft with the runway threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed on runway 33, which has a length of 6,533 feet. The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was excessively high at 100 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed. The touchdown distance of 1,374 feet was within acceptable limits, but the touchdown speed of 82 knots was slightly faster than ideal.
The touchdown rate of -29 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating that the aircraft touched down smoothly and without any significant deceleration. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the final stages of the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 80°F and a wind speed of 12 knots from 340°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and improve the landing distance.
The total landing distance of 3,427 feet was 52% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Vision Jet's landing at VQPR Paro International Airport was a success, with the pilot demonstrating good skills and control throughout the approach and landing phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of reducing the threshold speed and touchdown speed to achieve a more optimal landing.
