Departure
On the roll, make small rudder corrections against a point at the far end of the runway to hold the centreline within 7.5 m.
What happened: The takeoff roll drifted off the centreline by 7.5 m, and excess bank then carried through all three climb segments. A drifted roll like this usually leads into wandering bank angle through the climb.
Watch for: Watch the heading indicator and runway centreline during the roll, and the attitude indicator for wings level through the climb.

A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,616 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,616 m of the 2,366 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 348 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, the Boeing 737-800 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. Upon reaching runway 17, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 1,283-meter stretch of the runway, which accounted for 53% of its total length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 152 knots, overcoming a headwind of 11 knots and a crosswind of 9 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, ascending from 1,873 feet above sea level to 32,393 feet, a vertical increase of 30,520 feet, in just 15 minutes and covering a distance of 100 nautical miles. The climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which lasted for 49 minutes and covered 407 nautical miles, as the aircraft flew south-east of Ettrick, Wisconsin. The cruise phase was punctuated by a series of descents, including a notable descent from 32,134 feet to 4,054 feet, a decrease of 28,080 feet, in 25 minutes and covering 147 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off again, flying east of Brentwood, Pennsylvania, before initiating its final descent, which took it from 3,921 feet to 2,382 feet in just 2 minutes and covering 5 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached Pittsburgh International Airport, it began its final approach to runway 32, flying from the south-east and aligning itself with the runway at 4 nautical miles and 1,580 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed smoothly, with a touchdown distance of 348 meters, a speed of 129 knots, and a touchdown rate of -55 feet per minute, which was considered excellent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned, but the runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took just 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 673 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 3,981 kilograms of fuel during the journey, which lasted for 107 minutes.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 32 at KPIT Pittsburgh International Airport with a satisfactory approach quality, characterized by a stable and controlled descent. The aircraft was established on the final approach from the south east, heading 316.0° at 4 nm and 1,580 ft above ground level. The threshold height was good, allowing the crew to maintain a consistent approach path. The threshold speed of 136 kt was also within the acceptable range, indicating a well-executed approach.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft exhibited good touchdown characteristics, with a speed of 129 kt and a touchdown rate of -55 fpm, which is an excellent result. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.0 m from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path. The touchdown distance of 348 m was within the acceptable range, and the overall touchdown performance was satisfactory.
The rollout phase was characterized by very good alignment, with the aircraft remaining on the centreline throughout the rollout. The total landing distance of 1,537 m, which accounts for 65% of the runway length, was within the acceptable range. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 9 °C and a wind speed of 4 kt at 209°, did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing performance. Overall, the landing was scored 98.9%, indicating a high level of proficiency and a well-executed landing.
