Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 6,177 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,177 ft of the 11,076 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,249 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, taking 14 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 07L, with a takeoff distance of 1,790 feet, which was 17% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 89°F and winds of 8 knots at 120 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, and the headwind was 7 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile east of the airport and took the aircraft from an altitude of 2,132 feet above sea level to 36,736 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,605 feet, in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 98 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise 1 mile south east of the Mesa Lutheran Hospital Heliport, lasting 14 minutes and covering 100 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 1 mile east of the Twentynine Palms Airport and took the aircraft from an altitude of 36,758 feet above sea level to 1,391 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,367 feet, in 22 minutes and covering 120 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25L at Los Angeles International Airport was made from the east, heading 263.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,252 feet above ground level. The landing took place on the runway, with a total landing distance of 5,920 feet, which was 53% of the runway length. The touchdown point was 892 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was fair at -203 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 70°F. After landing, the aircraft taxiing to the parking area took 9 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 328 nautical miles, taking 75 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,974 pounds of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX) on runway 25L, achieving a high score of 96.4%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 263.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,252 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach to the runway was precise, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 142 knots, which is within the acceptable range.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 892 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 131 knots. While the touchdown speed was within the acceptable range, the touchdown rate of -203 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating that the aircraft could have been brought down to the ground more smoothly. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 70°F. The total landing distance of 5,920 feet was 53% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and precision during the approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown rate, which could be achieved through adjustments to the aircraft's descent rate and touchdown speed.
