MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,494 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 538 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 01L at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, with a takeoff distance of 1,313 meters, which was 37% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 164 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Oslo, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead Gardermoen. The climb took 17 minutes and covered a distance of 103 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,695 feet above sea level to 27,333 feet. The climb was a significant increase of 25,638 feet.
After reaching cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 11 nautical miles. This cruise phase took place 11 miles northwest of Dalen in Vestfold og Telemark, Norway.
The enroute descent phase began 5 miles southeast of Hovden in Agder, Norway, where the aircraft started its descent from 27,323 feet to 9,762 feet, a decrease of 17,560 feet in 8 minutes. The descent covered a distance of 57 nautical miles.
Following the initial descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 7 nautical miles. This cruise phase took place 3 miles northeast of Oltedal in Rogaland Fylke, Norway.
The final descent phase began 5 miles south of Oltedal, where the aircraft descended from 9,300 feet to 1,311 feet, a decrease of 7,989 feet in 9 minutes. The descent covered a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 36 at ENZV Stavanger Airport, Sola, from the south, heading 359.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,273 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 114 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 128 knots, but the touchdown rate was firm at -342 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 15 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, and the headwind was 13 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,043 meters, which was 42% of the runway length. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, a process that took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 200 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 50 minutes. The aircraft used 2,200 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENZV Stavanger Airport, Sola, with a score of 97.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 359.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,273 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good control, and the aircraft landed on runway 36, which has a length of 2,494 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was maintained at 133 knots, indicating a well-executed approach. However, the touchdown point was 114 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 128 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -342 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite the slightly fast touchdown speed, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 4°C and wind speeds of 15 knots at 330°, resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 13 knots. These conditions did not seem to affect the landing significantly.
The total landing distance was 1,043 meters, which is 42% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled throughout the landing process. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, showing that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway after touchdown and during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with good control and precision, resulting in a high score of 97.7%.
