Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 744 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 744 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 147 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 08 at EGFI Fishburn Airfield, where the DA40-XLS aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 77 meters, which is 10% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 63 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 269 degrees. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and a slight tailwind.
As the aircraft entered the right-hand pattern, it did so from runway 08, with the distance covered in less than 1 nautical mile in 20 seconds. The right-hand pattern crosswind was also from runway 08, and the aircraft took 44 seconds to cover a distance of 1 nautical mile. The pattern downwind turn was a significant maneuver, with the aircraft covering a distance of 2 nautical miles at an angle of 65.3 degrees to the runway. The downwind leg itself was short, taking less than 1 nautical mile in 29 seconds.
The base leg turn was another critical phase of the flight, where the aircraft covered a distance of 1 nautical mile at an angle of 56.7 degrees to the runway. The base leg was short, taking less than 1 nautical mile in 20 seconds. The final turn was also brief, taking less than 1 nautical mile in 33 seconds. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 08 from the west, at a heading of 79.0 degrees and an altitude of 99.1 meters above ground level.
The landing on runway 08 was smooth, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 54 knots and a distance of 146 meters. The touchdown rate was smooth at -0.6 meters per second, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions remained the same, with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 269 degrees. The total landing distance was 543 meters, which is 73% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect.
The total flight distance was 8 nautical miles, and the flight took 8 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 3 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was characterized by smooth and controlled maneuvers, with the aircraft performing well in the given weather conditions.
The DA40-XLS aircraft successfully landed at EGFI Fishburn Airfield, achieving a high score of 98.1%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 79.0° at 1 nautical mile and 99.1 meters above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing on runway 08.
The landing was executed with a threshold speed that was slightly below the target, coming in at 63 knots. However, this did not affect the overall performance of the aircraft, as the touchdown distance was good at 146 meters. The touchdown speed of 54 knots was also within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -0.6 meters per second.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and aligned with the runway during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 1 knot from 269°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and a slight tailwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 543 meters was 73% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing.
Overall, the DA40-XLS aircraft performed well during the landing at EGFI Fishburn Airfield, achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and precision. The favorable weather conditions and the pilot's skill contributed to a smooth and successful landing.
