Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,623 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 622 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, the Airbus A320 began its journey with a taxiing period of six minutes, covering a distance of one nautical mile. Following a departure roll from runway 01L, the aircraft lifted off at a speed of 155 knots, utilizing 42% of the 1,506-meter runway. The local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 170°, resulting in a crosswind of 4 knots and a tailwind of 9 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its enroute cruise altitude, it traversed a distance of 137 nautical miles in 22 minutes, ascending from 1,658 feet above sea level to 37,852 feet. The climb phase was followed by a 71-minute level cruise, covering 489 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, reducing its altitude from 38,000 feet to 8,524 feet in 14 minutes, while covering 87 nautical miles. This was followed by a series of short level cruises and descents, with the final descent initiated overhead Kilcloon, Ireland, and concluding with a landing on runway 10R at Dublin Airport.
The landing was executed with a threshold height above target and a threshold speed of 133 knots. However, the touchdown point was 402 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 131 knots was slightly faster than desired. The touchdown rate was firm at -315 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.4 meters from the centerline. Following a total landing distance of 1,430 meters, which accounted for 55% of the 2,617-meter runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, covering a distance of less than one nautical mile in five minutes. The total flight distance was 801 nautical miles, with a flight time of 142 minutes and a fuel consumption of 5,517 kilograms.
The final approach to runway 10R at EIDW Dublin Airport was initiated from the west, heading 95.0° at 4 nm and 1,365 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a threshold speed of 133 kt, which met the target. However, the threshold height at 62 ft agl was above the desired level, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach path.
The aircraft touched down 402 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 131 kt, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -315 fpm, suggesting a controlled descent. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.4 m from the centreline, indicating a deviation from the intended path. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 13 °C and a wind of 21 kt at 10°, contributed to the challenging approach.
The total landing distance of 1,430 m was 55% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 30.2 m from the centreline, highlighting the need for further improvement in the pilot's ability to maintain alignment during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing performance scored 77.0%, reflecting a satisfactory but not exceptional performance.
