MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,092 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 413 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Munich Airport, the Airbus A321 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. As the aircraft reached the runway threshold, it initiated its departure roll on runway 26R, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 146 knots. The takeoff distance of 1,449 meters, which accounted for 36% of the runway length, was achieved in a relatively short period.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it passed over Munich Airport, reaching a height of 29,552 feet above sea level in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 69 nautical miles. The climb was characterized by a steady increase in altitude, with the aircraft eventually leveling off at various points along the route. Notably, the second level cruise phase, which lasted 13 minutes and covered 86 nautical miles, was the longest of the flight. The aircraft's descent phases were also notable, with the final descent from 36,026 feet to 3,007 feet above sea level taking place over a distance of 14 nautical miles in just 3 minutes.
The Airbus A321 eventually began its final approach to runway 23 at Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport, aligning itself with the runway from the north-east. The landing was executed with a threshold speed slightly above the target, at 134 knots, and a touchdown distance of 414 meters. The aircraft's touchdown speed of 128 knots was a little fast, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance of 353 nautical miles was achieved in 76 minutes, with the aircraft consuming 3,248 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft touched down smoothly on runway 23 at EDDH Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport, with a threshold height that met expectations. The approach quality was excellent, with a heading of 230.0° from the north east at 4 nautical miles and 1,290 feet above ground level. The threshold speed was slightly above the target at 134 knots, but the touchdown distance of 414 meters was well within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 128 knots was a little fast, resulting in a fair touchdown rate of -239 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind of 6 knots at 290°, contributed to a relatively calm landing. The crosswind of 5 knots and headwind of 3 knots were well within manageable limits. The total landing distance of 1,413 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway length, was reasonable.
The rollout phase was characterized by very good alignment, with the aircraft staying centered on the runway. Overall, the landing performance was impressive, with a score of 99.3%. The slight deviations in threshold speed and touchdown speed did not significantly impact the overall outcome, and the aircraft's ability to maintain alignment during the rollout phase was a testament to the crew's skill and the aircraft's handling characteristics.
