Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: six checks at the point nearest 500 ft above the runway after the base turn. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,614 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 289 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 1.72 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Cessna 152 departed MDST Cibao International Airport's runway 11, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 84 kt after a takeoff distance of 1,059 m, which accounted for 41% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15 °C and a light wind of 1 kt from 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind component. Following a left-hand pattern entry, the aircraft completed a series of turns and legs, with the downwind turn requiring a distance of 1 nm and an angle of 35.3° to the runway.
As the aircraft progressed through the pattern, it maintained a steady pace, with the downwind leg covering a distance of 4 nm in 133 seconds. The base leg turn, which involved a 36.7° angle to the runway, was completed in 3 nm. The final approach was initiated from the west, with the aircraft descending to 846 ft above ground level (agl) at a distance of 2 nm from the runway threshold. The landing was executed on runway 11, which had a length of 2,606 m, with a threshold speed that exceeded the target value at 68 kt. However, the touchdown speed of 55 kt was slightly higher than desired, resulting in a touchdown rate of -227 fpm.
The aircraft touched down 232 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a slight misalignment of 6.9 m from the centreline. The total landing distance of 843 m accounted for 32% of the available runway length. Following a smooth rollout, the aircraft came to a stop with a very good alignment. The flight, which covered a total distance of 13 nm, consumed 2 kg of fuel and lasted approximately 8 minutes.
The final approach to runway 11 at MDST Cibao International Airport from the west was executed with a heading of 100.0° at 2 nm and 846 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was above the target, reaching 68 kt, which may have contributed to a slightly longer landing distance.
The aircraft touched down 232 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 55 kt, which was excessively fast. The touchdown rate of -227 fpm was fair, indicating a relatively smooth descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 6.9 m, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or during the landing phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a light wind of 1 kt at 269°, did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 843 m was 32% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining a consistent path along the centreline. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 88.8% achieved.
