A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,993 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 404 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from EGGD Bristol Airport, the Boeing 737-800 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. Upon reaching runway 27, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 1,275-meter stretch of the 1,875-meter runway, which accounted for 68% of its length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 152 knots, overcoming the local wind conditions of 5 knots at 140 degrees, with a crosswind of 4 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Bristol, it began its enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 33,010 feet above sea level in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 96 nautical miles. The climb started 1 mile south east of Brockley, North Somerset, and continued until it reached the enroute level cruise phase, which began 1 mile north west of Liss, Hampshire. During this 55-minute phase, the aircraft maintained a steady altitude, covering a distance of 403 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase started 1 mile west of Jussac, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France, and lasted 25 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 32,926 feet to 1,347 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 130 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 09 at LFMU Béziers-Vias Airport was initiated from the west, with the aircraft heading 94.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,295 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on the 1,992-meter runway, with a touchdown distance of 404 meters, slightly above the target. The touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -251 feet per minute was fair. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 18.3 meters from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,333 meters, accounting for 67% of the runway length. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, a process that took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 636 nautical miles, taking 107 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,928 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 09 at LFMU Béziers-Vias Airport with a threshold speed of 138 kt, slightly above the target. The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, setting it up for a smooth touchdown. At 135 kt, the touchdown speed was a little fast, but the touchdown distance of 404 m was within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -251 fpm was fair, indicating a moderate deceleration.
As the aircraft rolled out, it became apparent that the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.1 m from the centreline. This deviation was noticeable, but not severe. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 11 °C and a gentle wind of 7 kt at 350 °, contributed to a relatively stable approach. The crosswind component of 7 kt and the tailwind of 2 kt did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,333 m was 67% of the runway length, indicating a reasonable use of the available runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 18.3 m from the centreline, highlighting a need for improvement in the pilot's ability to maintain centreline alignment during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing scored 92.6%, reflecting a good performance with some areas for improvement.
