Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,986 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 346 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 34 at LWSK Skopje International Airport. The takeoff distance was 813 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 150 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 17 knots at a direction of 9 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 15 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Kadino (Ilinden, Macedonia), and climbed from an altitude of 1,808 feet above sea level to 30,684 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,876 feet, in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 77 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 7 miles northwest of Razlog (Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria), and lasted for 23 minutes, covering a distance of 177 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 7 miles northwest of Luleburgaz (Kirklareli, Turkey), and descended from an altitude of 30,547 feet above sea level to 3,615 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,932 feet, in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 108 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 10 miles west of Cat (Kocaeli, Turkey), and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24R at LTFJ Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport was made from the northeast, heading 244.0 degrees, at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,506 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 24R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 348 meters, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at -391 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 16.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,056 meters, which accounted for 35% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 16.3 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 377 nautical miles, taking 66 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,769 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 24R at LTFJ Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, achieving a score of 89.9%. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 244.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,506 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed that was well above the target at 142 knots.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the landing. The touchdown speed of 135 knots was slightly faster than desired, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -391 feet per minute (fpm). Additionally, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 16.2 meters from the centerline, which could have posed a challenge for the pilots.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 23°C and a wind speed of 7 knots at 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions likely contributed to the aircraft's ability to maintain a stable approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,056 meters was 35% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 16.3 meters from the centerline, which could have posed a challenge for the pilots during the post-landing phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement. The pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and landing, but could benefit from further refinement of their techniques to achieve a more precise touchdown and rollout.
