Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 6,968 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,968 ft of the 9,870 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,418 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 09 at SVMG Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 4,391 feet, which was 44% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was 115 knots, and the aircraft lifted off the ground smoothly.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 82°F temperature and a 6-knot headwind. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 1,042 feet above sea level to 29,920 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,878 feet, in just 10 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 41 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 48 minutes and covered a distance of 338 nautical miles. This phase took place 31 miles north of Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent from 29,933 feet above sea level to 2,084 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,848 feet, in 16 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 75 nautical miles and took place 8 miles east of SV01 Venelac, Venezuela.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 8 minutes and covered a distance of 13 nautical miles. This phase took place 11 miles southwest of Cabimas, Venezuela.
The final approach to runway 03L at SVMC La Chinita International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 23.0°. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,255 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing was made on runway 03L, which was 9,870 feet long. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 114 knots. The touchdown point was 1,028 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 104 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -258 feet per minute.
The total landing distance was 6,678 feet, which was 68% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 38 feet from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 8 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 475 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 100 minutes. The aircraft used 7,641 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at La Chinita International Airport, specifically on runway 03L. The final approach was initiated from the south, with a heading of 23.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,255 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed of 113 kn, registering at 114 kn. This minor deviation from the target speed did not significantly impact the overall landing performance. The touchdown point was located 1,028 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively acceptable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The touchdown speed of 104 kn was within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilot maintained control and managed the aircraft's descent effectively. However, the touchdown rate of -258 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the pilot could have managed the descent more efficiently to achieve a smoother touchdown.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, which is a testament to the pilot's skill and attention to detail. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 86°F and a gentle wind of 4 kn from a direction of 38°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kn, while the headwind component was 4 kn, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The total landing distance of 6,678 feet was 68% of the available runway length, which is a relatively acceptable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 38 feet from the centerline, which may have been due to a minor deviation in the pilot's control inputs during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the final approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown rate and runway rollout alignment.
