MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,403 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 739 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 05R at HECA Cairo International Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,654 meters, which accounted for 66% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 171 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 16 knots at a direction of 30 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 15 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of HECA Cairo International Airport and climbing from an altitude of 1,468 feet above sea level to 34,870 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,402 feet in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 132 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 34 miles northwest of Alexandria, Egypt, and lasted for 18 minutes, covering a distance of 371 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 11 miles southwest of Folegandros, Greece, and descending from 33,733 feet above sea level to 32,054 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,679 feet in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 6 miles east of LGML Milos Airport, Milos Island, Greece, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 5 miles east of LGML Milos Airport, and descending from 31,600 feet above sea level to 1,598 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,002 feet in 17 minutes and covering a distance of 83 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 21L at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport was made from the northeast, with a heading of 217.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,310 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 21L, which had a length of 3,403 meters. The threshold height at 67 feet above ground level was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 148 knots.
The touchdown point was 344 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 139 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -220 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 18 knots at a direction of 290 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 18 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,444 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 614 nautical miles, taking 70 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,473 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 21L at the Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (LGAV) with a score of 88.6%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 217.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,310 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the touchdown point was 344 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. This indicates that the pilot may have slightly over-extended the landing, resulting in a longer than necessary landing distance. The touchdown speed of 139 knots was also a little fast, which could have contributed to the extended landing distance.
The threshold height at 67 feet agl was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 148 knots. This suggests that the pilot may have been a bit too aggressive in their approach, resulting in a higher than necessary speed at the threshold.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline, which could have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the approach. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 18 knots from 290°. This resulted in a crosswind of 18 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,444 meters, which is 42% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, considering the aircraft's size and the runway length.
Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the pilot was able to bring the aircraft safely to the ground, and the score of 88.6% indicates a good level of proficiency. However, there are areas for improvement, such as reducing the touchdown speed and improving the alignment during the approach.
