Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed 35 kt FAST on the reference speed of 129 kt.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,856 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,856 m of the 3,890 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 924 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Stuttgart Airport, the Boeing 737-700 began its journey on runway 07, accelerating down the 1,293-meter stretch to lift off at a speed of 147 knots. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a gentle headwind of 2 knots from 359 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it transitioned into a steady ascent, reaching an altitude of 37,003 feet in 16 minutes and covering 107 nautical miles. The enroute climb phase was followed by a 34-minute level cruise at 37,003 feet, during which the aircraft covered 259 nautical miles. The crew then initiated a descent from 37,001 feet, gradually losing altitude over the Italian countryside. After a brief level cruise near Anzio, the aircraft began its final descent, touching down on runway 34R at Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport.
The landing was notable for its high touchdown speed of 138 knots and a touchdown rate of -247 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The total landing distance of 1,724 meters was 44% of the available runway length. Following a 6-minute taxi to the parking area, the aircraft came to rest, having completed a total flight distance of 507 nautical miles and consuming 3,212 kilograms of fuel in the process. The flight duration was 89 minutes.
The Boeing 737-700 touched down on runway 34R at LIRF Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport with a threshold height significantly above the target, at 82 ft agl. This deviation from the ideal approach profile was compounded by a threshold speed that exceeded the target by a considerable margin, reaching 146 kt. Despite these initial deviations, the aircraft maintained a perfect runway touchdown alignment, a testament to the crew's skill and attention to detail.
As the aircraft made contact with the runway, it did so at a speed of 138 kt, which was faster than desired. However, the touchdown rate of -247 fpm was fair, indicating a relatively controlled descent. The touchdown point was located 456 m beyond the touchdown zone, which, while not ideal, did not pose a significant risk to the safety of the aircraft or its occupants. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 22 °C and a gentle headwind of 3 kt, contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The Boeing 737-700's rollout phase was marked by excellent alignment, with the aircraft tracking very close to the centreline. The total landing distance of 1,724 m, which accounted for 44% of the runway length, was a respectable figure, considering the initial deviations from the ideal approach profile. Overall, the landing was scored 81.1%, a respectable performance that reflected the crew's skill and experience.
