Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,628 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,628 m of the 2,713 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 541 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from London Gatwick Airport, the Airbus A321 began its journey on runway 26L, taking off with a distance of 1,407 meters, which accounted for 49% of the available runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 166 knots, overcoming a headwind of 11 knots and a crosswind of 5 knots. The local temperature was 12 degrees Celsius, with a wind direction of 231 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it passed overhead Charlwood in Surrey, England, before leveling off at 31,972 feet above sea level. The enroute climb phase saw the aircraft ascend to this altitude in just 25 minutes, covering a distance of 174 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 123 minutes and covered 1,010 nautical miles. This was followed by a brief climb phase, where the aircraft ascended to 32,912 feet above sea level in just 2 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles. The final enroute cruise phase lasted for 25 minutes and covered 202 nautical miles.
As the aircraft began its descent into Heraklion International Nikos Kazantzakis Airport, it started from an altitude of 33,010 feet above sea level and descended to 1,549 feet above sea level in 19 minutes, covering 110 nautical miles. The final approach was made from the east, heading 275.0 degrees, and the aircraft landed on runway 27 with a total landing distance of 1,548 meters, which accounted for 57% of the available runway. The touchdown speed was slightly above the target at 150 knots, and the touchdown rate was fair at -210 feet per minute. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking just 3 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,517 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 10,556 kilograms of fuel during the journey.
The aircraft touched down on runway 27 at LGIR Heraklion International Nikos Kazantzakis Airport, a 2,713-meter-long runway, after a final approach from the east. The approach quality was good, with a threshold height that met expectations. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 150 knots, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal landing conditions.
The touchdown point was 126 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 137 knots was a little fast, resulting in a touchdown rate of -210 feet per minute, which was fair. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.6 meters from the centerline, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal alignment. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind of 16 knots at 310 degrees, contributed to the landing performance.
The total landing distance was 1,548 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 11.6 meters from the centerline. Overall, the landing performance scored 93.4%, indicating a good but not exceptional landing. The deviations from the ideal landing conditions were minor, but they did affect the overall score.
