Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,895 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 443 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A319 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at ESMS Malmö Sturup Airport, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 17, with the aircraft taking off after covering 47% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,306 meters, and the liftoff speed was 149 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 15 knots blowing from a direction of 250 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 15 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead ESMS Malmö Sturup Airport and took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,232 feet above sea level to 34,511 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,279 feet in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 112 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 23 miles south of Degerhamn in Kalmar, Sweden, and lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 110 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 38 miles west of Liepaja in Latvia, and took the aircraft from an altitude of 34,567 feet above sea level to 6,251 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,316 feet in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 125 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, which started 9 miles northeast of Smarde in Engures Novads, Latvia, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 11 miles north of Jurmala in Latvia, and took the aircraft from an altitude of 5,855 feet above sea level to 1,244 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,611 feet in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 13 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 18 at EVRA Riga International Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 185.0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,195 feet above ground level. However, the aircraft was forced to execute a go-around at an altitude of 17 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 18, which had a length of 2,895 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was well above the target speed of 142 knots.
The touchdown point was 63 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 130 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -209 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 17 knots blowing from a direction of 250 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 15 knots and a headwind of 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,310 meters, which was 45% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 385 nautical miles, and the flight took 84 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 3,530 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at Riga International Airport, achieving a score of 89.4%. The final approach to runway 18 was initiated from the north, heading 185.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,195 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being slightly above the target at 136 knots. However, the second landing attempt showed a good threshold height, but the threshold speed was well above the target at 142 knots. The touchdown point was 63 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly faster than desired, and the touchdown rate of -209 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the deviation from the intended landing spot.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 17 knots from 250°. The crosswind component was 15 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's performance during the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,310 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent during the landing. Overall, while there were some minor deviations from the desired landing parameters, the Airbus A319 aircraft was able to successfully land at Riga International Airport, achieving a respectable score of 89.4%.
