MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 13,436 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,254 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Wichita Falls Municipal Airport / Sheppard Air Force Base. This process took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 18, with a takeoff distance of 2,589 feet, which accounted for 37% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 164 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 65°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 0 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles north of Wichita Falls, Texas. During this climb, the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 2,037 feet above sea level to 10,006 feet above sea level, an increase of 7,970 feet, in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles southwest of TE10 Pierce Airport Henrietta, Texas. This phase lasted for 11 minutes and covered a distance of 60 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead 3XA1 Hardy Field Valley View, Texas. During this descent, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 9,532 feet above sea level to 4,608 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,924 feet, in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 19 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another climb phase, starting overhead Corinth, Texas. During this climb, the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 4,681 feet above sea level to 7,254 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,573 feet, in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent phase, starting 2 miles northwest of XS60 Mustang Community Airfield Aubrey, Texas. During this descent, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 7,245 feet above sea level to 1,877 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,368 feet, in 7 minutes and covering a distance of 23 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 18R at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 180.0°, at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,301 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 18R, which had a length of 13,436 feet. The threshold height at 71 feet above ground level was well above the target, while the threshold speed was also well above the target at 109 knots.
The touchdown point was 859 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 95 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -268 feet per minute, while the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 3,818 feet, which accounted for 28% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 133 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 37 minutes. Notably, the aircraft used 0 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft successfully landed at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on runway 18R. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 180.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,301 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored an overall rating of 88.6%.
One of the notable aspects of the landing was the final approach to the runway. The threshold height at 71 feet agl was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft was higher than expected when approaching the runway. Additionally, the threshold speed was also above the target at 109 knots, suggesting that the aircraft was traveling faster than intended when reaching the runway threshold.
The touchdown point was located 859 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant distance. The touchdown speed of 95 knots was slightly faster than the target, and the touchdown rate of -268 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, and there was no headwind. These conditions likely contributed to the successful landing.
The total landing distance of 3,818 feet was 28% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft demonstrated a good performance during the landing at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. While there were some minor deviations from the target values, the aircraft's overall performance was satisfactory, and the landing was considered successful.
