Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,773 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 638 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the departure roll from runway 16 at Orcas Island Airport, where the Cessna Grand Caravan 01 took off with a takeoff distance of 304 meters, which accounted for 34% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 85 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 178 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the Eastsound area of Orcas Island Airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 537 feet above sea level to 5,358 feet, an increase of 4,821 feet, in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a level cruise, which began 1 mile east of the Windsock Airport on Lopez Island and lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 42 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 1 mile north of Lofall, where the aircraft began its descent from an altitude of 5,018 feet above sea level to 1,288 feet, a decrease of 3,730 feet, in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 19 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 14R at Boeing Field King County International Airport was made from the northwest, with the aircraft heading 150 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 14R was successful, with the aircraft touching down 200 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 56 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was also good at -185 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 304 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,022 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area from the runway in less than 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 76 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 31 minutes, during which the aircraft used 124 kilograms of fuel.
The Cessna Grand Caravan 01 successfully landed on runway 14R at KBFI Boeing Field King County International Airport, achieving a score of 91.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north-west, heading 150.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,253 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 87 kt, registering at 88 kt. This minor deviation from the target speed did not significantly impact the overall landing performance. The touchdown point was 200 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 56 kt was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -185 feet per minute (fpm) was also good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 2 kt at 304°. The crosswind and tailwind components were minimal, at 1 kt each, which did not pose a significant challenge to the pilot. The total landing distance of 1,022 meters was 37% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
One area for improvement was the runway touchdown position, which was slightly misaligned by 5.1 meters from the centerline. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment in navigating the aircraft to a safe touchdown.
