Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,012 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,012 m of the 2,542 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 693 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 22 at EDDC Dresden Airport, where the aircraft, an Airbus A319, accelerated down the 2,542-meter runway and lifted off at a speed of 154 knots. The takeoff distance covered 1,181 meters, which was 46% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind blowing at 4 knots from a direction of 179 degrees, resulting in a 3-knot headwind and a negligible crosswind.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of EDDC Dresden Airport, rising from an altitude of 1,741 feet above sea level to 3,107 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. This rapid ascent was followed by a brief enroute level cruise, which lasted for 3 minutes and covered 11 nautical miles, as the aircraft flew 1 mile south of Moritzburg, Saxony, Germany.
The enroute descent began 1 mile northwest of Konigsbruck, Saxony, Germany, where the aircraft started its descent from 3,125 feet above sea level to 1,993 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 22 at EDDC Dresden Airport was made from the northeast, with the aircraft flying at a heading of 221.0 degrees and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level, 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing was executed on runway 22, with the aircraft touching down 274 meters beyond the touchdown zone. Although the touchdown speed of 121 knots was slightly above the target, the touchdown rate of -78 feet per minute was excellent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.1 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind blowing at 3 knots from a direction of 210 degrees, resulting in a 1-knot crosswind and a 3-knot headwind.
The total landing distance covered 1,928 meters, which was 76% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration of the aircraft. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 5 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 25 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 14 minutes, during which the aircraft used 56 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at EDDC Dresden Airport, achieving a score of 92.1%. The final approach to runway 22 was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 221.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 126 knots, which may have contributed to a slightly faster touchdown speed of 121 knots. However, the touchdown rate of -78 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, demonstrating a smooth and controlled landing. The touchdown point was 274 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight over-shooting of the intended landing spot.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 11°C and a gentle wind of 3 knots at 210°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 3 knots, which may have contributed to the aircraft's stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,928 meters was 76% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating a high degree of control and stability during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite a few minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters.
