Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,847 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,847 m of the 3,002 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 437 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The Boeing 777F aircraft then departed from runway 18 at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), with a takeoff distance of 1,067 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 167 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 6°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and there was a 1-knot tailwind. The enroute climb started 2 miles west of Moerfelden-Walldorf, a town in the state of Hessen, Germany. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,349 feet above sea level to 35,147 feet, an increase of 33,798 feet, in 14 minutes and covered a distance of 83 nautical miles.
After reaching cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Nusbaum, a town in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. This phase lasted for 75 minutes and covered a distance of 584 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 3 miles north of Cornago, a town in the autonomous community of La Rioja, Spain. The aircraft descended from an altitude of 35,398 feet to 3,184 feet, a decrease of 32,214 feet, in 24 minutes and covered a distance of 119 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 32R at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (LEMD) was made from the southeast, with a heading of 323.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,221 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on runway 32R, which had a length of 3,002 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 146 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 439 meters, and the touchdown speed was 144 knots, which was also satisfactory.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 8°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 350 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and there was a 1-knot headwind. The touchdown rate was fair at -294 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 1,768 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 797 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 134 minutes. The aircraft used 16,023 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777F aircraft successfully landed at LEMD Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport, showcasing a high level of precision and control. The final approach to runway 32R was executed from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 323.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,221 feet above ground level (agl). This approach was marked by a high score of 99.2%, indicating a nearly flawless execution of the landing procedure.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated good threshold height, with the threshold speed being 146 knots. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits, measuring 439 meters. The touchdown speed of 144 knots was also satisfactory, indicating that the aircraft was brought to a safe stop within a reasonable distance. However, the touchdown rate of -294 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slightly higher rate of descent than desired.
Despite this minor issue, the overall performance of the aircraft during the landing was impressive. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 8°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots from 350°, did not pose any significant challenges to the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,768 meters was 59% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. This suggests that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a safe stop within a reasonable distance, using the available runway length efficiently. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing of the Boeing 777F at LEMD Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport was a success, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of precision and control throughout the landing procedure.
