MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Departure
Make small rudder corrections against a point at the far end to hold the centreline.
What happened: During the ground roll you drifted 9.8 m off the runway centreline.
Watch for: Watch runway alignment against the centreline, correcting with small rudder inputs.
See Departure Roll
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final to bleed speed back to 67 kt before crossing the threshold.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 104 kt, 37 kt above the 67 kt target.
Watch for: Airspeed, targeting 67 kt at the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,403 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 767 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This flight was conducted with a TBM 850 aircraft. Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Limnos Airport, located on the Greek island of Limnos, took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. Departure from runway 04R at LGLM Limnos Airport was smooth, with a takeoff distance of 619 meters, which accounted for 21% of the runway. The liftoff speed was a respectable 101 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of 14 knots at a direction of 40 degrees. The crosswind was very light at 1 knot, while the headwind contributed a strong 14 knots.
Climbing to a height of 22,418 feet above sea level, the aircraft rose from its starting point of 1,037 feet above sea level, a vertical gain of 21,381 feet, over a distance of 48 nautical miles within 15 minutes.
Following a brief level cruise of 3 minutes and covering 17 nautical miles east of the island of Skyros, the aircraft began its descent to a lower altitude. From a height of 22,412 feet above sea level, it descended to 5,063 feet in just 13 minutes over a distance of 65 nautical miles.
The second level cruise of this flight started when the aircraft was 11 miles south of Karystos, another destination in Greece. This segment of the flight lasted 3 minutes and spanned a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The descent from 5,082 feet above sea level to 3,249 feet took a mere 3 minutes over a distance of 12 nautical miles near the town of Lavrio. Another level cruise of 23 minutes and covering 19 nautical miles ensued when the aircraft was 7 miles south east of the town of Legrena.
Just before landing, the aircraft descended again, from a height of 3,248 feet to 1,538 feet in 4 minutes, over a distance of 5 nautical miles near Vari, another location in the Attica region of Greece.
The final approach to runway 03R at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, which is located in the Attica region of Greece, was made from the south west at a heading of 37.0 degrees. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,245 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles away from the runway.
The TBM 850 landed on runway 03R at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, which has a length of 3,403 meters. Unfortunately, the threshold speed at landing was found to be higher than expected at 104 knots, while the touchdown speed was also somewhat fast at 78 knots. Additionally, the touchdown rate was firm at -325 feet per minute. Moreover, the runway touchdown position was misaligned from the runway centreline by 9.8 meters.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft travelled a total distance of 916 meters, accounting for 27% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was found to be slightly misaligned by 12.5 meters from the centreline.
The entire flight covered a distance of 186 nautical miles, taking a total of 59 minutes and consuming 172 kilograms of fuel.
The TBM 850 aircraft landed on runway 03R at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, scoring 78.7% on the landing evaluation. The final approach was initiated from the south-west, aligning with a heading of 37.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles (nm) and an altitude of 1,245 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing took place on a relatively long runway, measuring 3,403 meters, and the threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft had a satisfactory distance to spare upon touchdown. However, the threshold speed was excessively high, reaching 104 knots (kt), which may have posed a challenge for the pilot to control the aircraft's descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's touchdown point was 328 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating that the pilot missed the intended touchdown spot. The touchdown speed, at 78 kt, was also considered fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at -325 feet per minute (fpm), suggesting that the aircraft touched down with a somewhat abrupt force.
The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 9.8 meters from the centerline, which may have caused some difficulties during the roll-out phase. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were warm, with a temperature of 28°C and a moderate crosswind of 3 kt from the headwind component, which was 16 kt at 48°.
The aircraft's total landing distance was 916 meters, which accounts for only 27% of the available runway length, indicating that the landing was successful in terms of distance. Nevertheless, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.5 meters from the centerline, highlighting another area for improvement.
Overall, this landing evaluation provides valuable insights into the performance of the TBM 850 aircraft and the skills of the pilot involved. While the landing was generally successful, there were areas for improvement, particularly with regards to the threshold speed, touchdown speed, and runway alignment.
