MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,995 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 296 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a TBM 850, then departed from runway 04R at LGLM Limnos Airport. The takeoff distance was 572 meters, which accounted for 19% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 118 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 25 knots at a direction of 40 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 25 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile east of Atsiki, in the North Aegean region of Greece. The climb started from an altitude of 1,071 feet above sea level and reached a height of 3,694 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,623 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 9 miles northwest of Atsiki. This phase lasted for 23 minutes and covered a distance of 51 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 4 miles west of LGP3 KAZAVITI PRINOS, in the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region of Greece. The descent started from an altitude of 2,953 feet above sea level and reached a height of 448 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,505 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 05 at LGKV Kavala Alexander the Great International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 59.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 430 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on runway 05, which had a length of 2,995 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 79 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 292 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 69 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -245 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot at a direction of 269 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 608 meters, which accounted for 20% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 74 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 28 minutes. The aircraft used 74 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at LGKV Kavala Alexander the Great International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.2%. The final approach to runway 05 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 59.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 430 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed that was well above the target at 79 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a touchdown distance of 292 meters, which is within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 69 knots was slightly faster than desired, indicating that the pilot may have needed to apply more braking or reverse thrust to slow the aircraft down more quickly. The touchdown rate of -245 feet per minute was fair, suggesting that the aircraft's descent was not excessively steep.
One of the standout aspects of this landing was the perfect runway touchdown alignment, which indicates that the pilot maintained excellent control and precision during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a light wind of 1 knot from 269°, resulting in a negligible crosswind or tailwind component.
The total landing distance of 608 meters was only 20% of the runway length, which is a testament to the aircraft's excellent braking performance and the pilot's skillful control. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable and controlled descent during the rollout phase. Overall, this landing was a credit to the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's capabilities.
