Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,005 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,347 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 18L at KTUL Tulsa International Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,003 feet, which is 20% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 148 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 61°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°. There was a slight crosswind of 2 knots, but no headwind. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile south of KTUL Tulsa International Airport, rising from an altitude of 1,635 feet above sea level to 27,504 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,869 feet, in 11 minutes and covering 45 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 3 miles southeast of Disney, Oklahoma. This phase of the flight lasted 82 minutes and covered 607 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead OI12 Fly-A-Way Farm Airport in Delaware, Ohio. The descent from 27,502 feet above sea level to 2,482 feet above sea level, a decrease of 25,020 feet, took 18 minutes and covered 79 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 01 at KCAK Akron Canton Regional Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 2.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,265 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 01, which has a length of 7,005 feet. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was too high at 110 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 1,348 feet, and the touchdown speed of 102 knots was fast. The touchdown rate was good at -153 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 16 feet from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°, with a slight crosswind of 2 knots and no headwind. The total landing distance was 2,817 feet, which is 40% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 738 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 118 minutes. Notably, the aircraft used 0 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation successfully landed at KCAK Akron Canton Regional Airport, achieving a score of 97.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 2.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,265 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, aligning the aircraft with the runway 01 threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed on the runway, which has a length of 7,005 feet. The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly higher than ideal at 110 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 1,348 feet was within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 102 knots was faster than recommended, but the touchdown rate of -153 feet per minute (fpm) was good.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 16 feet, which may require some adjustments in the pilot's approach technique. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, and the headwind component was zero.
The total landing distance of 2,817 feet was 40% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was excellent, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment in executing the approach and landing.
