Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,998 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 457 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Frankfurt Airport, taking 13 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 07C, with a takeoff distance of 2,142 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 176 knots.
As the aircraft departed Frankfurt Airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 17°C temperature and winds of 7 knots at 39 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 6 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Frankfurt Airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,471 feet above sea level to 32,640 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,170 feet in 25 minutes, covering a distance of 146 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 1 mile north-west of Sulzemoos, Germany, and lasted for 173 minutes, covering a distance of 1,355 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 24 miles north-east of Kafr ash Shaykh, Egypt, descending from 32,833 feet above sea level to 2,723 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,111 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 78 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 1 mile south-west of Qalyub, Egypt, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent 3 miles north-east of Al Jizah Airport, descending from 2,711 feet above sea level to 1,732 feet above sea level, a decrease of 979 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 05R at Cairo International Airport took place from the south-west, with the aircraft heading at 49.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,378 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 05R, which had a length of 3,998 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 143 knots.
The touchdown point was 48 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 137 knots, which was slightly fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -167 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 22°C temperature and winds of 9 knots at 333 degrees. The crosswind was 9 knots, while the headwind was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,169 meters, which accounted for 29% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 15.0 meters from the centreline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 1,607 nautical miles, taking 245 minutes and consuming 11,848 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed on runway 05R at HECA Cairo International Airport, achieving a score of 95.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 49.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,378 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 143 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 48 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center but not significantly so. The touchdown speed of 137 knots was a bit faster than ideal, but the touchdown rate of -167 feet per minute (fpm) was within acceptable limits. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable and controlled approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from 333°. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 2 knots, which the pilot effectively managed during the landing. The total landing distance of 1,169 meters was 29% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway rollout alignment, with the aircraft being 15.0 meters off-centerline. This minor misalignment may have been due to the pilot's efforts to maintain control and stability during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment in managing the aircraft during the approach and landing phases.
