Departure
Ease the back pressure on the yoke after rotation so the pitch change is smoother and g force stays lower.
What happened: During the initial climb the average g force reached 1.3 g, a high value for that phase.
Watch for: G meter: smooth, steady value in the normal climb band
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,520 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 448 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Austin Bergstrom International Airport (KAUS), the Boeing 737-800 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. As the aircraft lined up on runway 18L, it was cleared for departure roll, and with a takeoff distance of 1,205 meters, which equated to 44% of the runway length, the aircraft lifted off at a liftoff speed of 150 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 29°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 210°, resulting in a 2-knot crosswind and a 3-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed out of KAUS, it began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile southeast of the airport and continued for 39 minutes, covering a distance of 279 nautical miles. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 1,457 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 35,997 feet, an increase of 34,541 feet. Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 44 minutes and covered a distance of 329 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started approximately 5 miles north of Ixhuatlan de Madero, Mexico, and continued for 18 minutes, covering a distance of 126 nautical miles. The aircraft descended from a cruising altitude of 35,996 feet to an altitude of 8,647 feet, a decrease of 27,350 feet.
As the aircraft approached Benito Juárez International Airport (MMMX), it began its final approach to runway 05R from the southwest, heading 59.0° at an altitude of 1,299 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the threshold. The aircraft landed on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 451 meters, which was 30% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 120 knots, and the touchdown rate was an excellent -94 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centerline. Following a smooth rollout, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 741 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 5,268 kilograms of fuel during the flight, which lasted a total of 2 hours and 7 minutes.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 05R at MMMX Benito Juárez International Airport with a satisfactory approach quality, characterized by a stable and controlled descent. The aircraft maintained a heading of 59.0° and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the threshold, at an altitude of 1,299 feet above ground level. The threshold height was good, allowing for a smooth transition to the runway.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft demonstrated good control, with a touchdown speed of 120 kt and a touchdown distance of 451 meters. The touchdown rate of -94 feet per minute was excellent, indicating a well-executed landing. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centreline, which may require attention during future landings. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 24°C and a gentle headwind of 3 kt, contributed to a stable and predictable landing environment.
The total landing distance of 1,023 meters, representing 30% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a high degree of control and precision during the post-landing phase. Overall, the landing was scored 99.6%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and adherence to standard operating procedures.
