Departure
Use smoother, smaller aileron inputs to keep the wings level and hold bank angle near wings-level during the climb.
What happened: During the climb, bank angle rose to 2.6°, more roll than the climb out called for.
Watch for: Attitude indicator: wings level during the climb
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final so threshold speed settles at 75 kt instead of carrying it into the flare.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 116 kt, well above the 75 kt target speed, and that excess speed was still showing at touchdown. Crossing the threshold fast usually carries straight through to a fast touchdown.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator against 75 kt on short final.
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,633 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,633 m of the 2,288 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,010 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Anglesey Airport, the Beechcraft A36 Bonanza began its takeoff roll on runway 31, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 84 kt within 475 meters, or 21% of the runway's length. The aircraft lifted off smoothly, with a local wind of 1 kt at 269° providing a negligible effect on the takeoff performance.
Following a brief 4-minute enroute level cruise, during which the aircraft covered 10 nm, the pilot initiated the descent phase, setting up for a landing on the same runway. However, the threshold height at 106 ft agl was found to be excessively high, and the threshold speed of 116 kt was also above the target. Despite these deviations, the pilot managed to touch down the aircraft at a speed of 86 kt, which was slightly faster than the target, but the touchdown rate of -111 fpm was smooth. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the aircraft came to rest 566 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a total landing distance of 1,524 meters, or 67% of the runway's length.
After a smooth rollout, the pilot taxied the aircraft to the parking area, covering less than 1 nm in 10 minutes. The total flight distance was 12 nm, and the aircraft used 76 kg of fuel, with a total flight time of 7 minutes. The flight's performance was satisfactory, with the pilot demonstrating good control and adherence to standard procedures, despite some minor deviations from the target parameters.
The approach to runway 31 at EGOV Anglesey Airport was characterized by a significant deviation from the target threshold height, with the aircraft touching down at 106 ft above ground level, exceeding the recommended threshold height by a considerable margin. The approach quality was further compromised by a threshold speed of 116 kt, which was excessively high, indicating a potential loss of control during the final stages of the approach.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed of 86 kt was too fast, resulting in a touchdown rate of -111 fpm, which, although smooth, was still higher than the recommended rate. The touchdown point was located 566 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-run. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft remaining centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 16 °C and a negligible headwind of 1 kt, did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,524 m, which accounted for 67% of the runway length, was slightly above the recommended threshold. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining a consistent centerline alignment throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was scored 63.9%, reflecting the deviations from the target threshold height and speed, as well as the slightly excessive touchdown speed.
