Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,713 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 379 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an RJ85, then departed from runway 19L at Kansas City International Airport (KMCI). The takeoff distance was 1,263 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 135 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and winds of 13 knots at 160 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, while the headwind was 11 knots. After departing from KMCI, the enroute climb started 1 mile south of the airport, with the aircraft climbing from 1,966 feet above sea level to 30,156 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,190 feet in 26 minutes and covering 157 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 4 miles northeast of Vermeer Pella (08IA) in Iowa, lasting 25 minutes and covering 169 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 2 miles north of Albany in Wisconsin, descending from 30,357 feet above sea level to 1,970 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,387 feet in 14 minutes and covering 70 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 19R at General Mitchell International Airport (KMKE) was made from the north, heading 194.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,247 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 19R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 376 meters, which was 33% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 107 knots, and the touchdown rate was -155 feet per minute, both of which were considered good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and winds of 7 knots at 100 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, while the headwind was 0 knots. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline, but the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight distance was 405 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 81 minutes. The aircraft used 2,808 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft in question, an RJ85, successfully landed at General Mitchell International Airport (KMKE) on runway 19R. The final approach was executed from the north, heading 194.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,247 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach, achieving a score of 99.0%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 117 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed. The touchdown distance of 376 meters was also within the expected range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown speed of 107 knots was slightly lower than the threshold speed, but still within the acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -155 feet per minute (fpm) was also within the expected range, indicating a gentle and controlled touchdown.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft landing 3.1 meters off-centerline. This deviation was minor and did not appear to have any significant impact on the overall landing performance. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 100°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was negligible.
The total landing distance of 900 meters was 33% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. This suggests that the aircraft was able to maintain a high level of control and precision throughout the landing, even in the presence of a slight crosswind. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its direction and speed during the rollout phase of the landing.
Overall, the landing performance of the RJ85 at General Mitchell International Airport was excellent, with a high score and minimal deviations from the expected parameters. The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency and control throughout the approach and landing phases, and was able to maintain a smooth and controlled touchdown.
