Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,710 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,710 m of the 2,593 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 851 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Punta Cana International Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 08, with a takeoff distance of 1,952 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 164 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 9 knots at a direction of 30 degrees.
The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots. As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile northeast of Punta Cana International Airport. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,080 feet above sea level to 35,265 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,185 feet, in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 132 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile southwest of Moca, Dominican Republic. This phase lasted for 97 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 664 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from an altitude of 34,722 feet above sea level to 35,782 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,060 feet, in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 9 miles southwest of Opa Locka West Miami, Florida. This phase lasted for 204 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 1,386 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, which started 6 miles west of Springer, New Mexico. The aircraft descended from an altitude of 34,827 feet above sea level to 8,823 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,004 feet, in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 82 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02 at San Luis Valley Regional Airport/Bergman Field was made from the southwest, with a heading of 32.0 degrees, at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,265 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 02, which had a length of 2,593 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 134 knots.
The touchdown point was 441 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 125 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -272 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.9 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 1 knot at a direction of 326 degrees. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,636 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.7 meters from the centerline. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,286 nautical miles, which was covered in 357 minutes, and the aircraft used 14,089 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at KALS San Luis Valley Regional Airport/Bergman Field, achieving a score of 90.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 32.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,265 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good threshold height and speed, reaching 134 knots at the threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 441 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a speed of 125 knots. However, the touchdown rate was slightly below average at -272 feet per minute (fpm), which could be considered fair. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 10.9 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 9°C and a gentle wind of 1 knot from 326°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was negligible at 0 knots. The total landing distance covered by the aircraft was 1,636 meters, which accounted for approximately 63% of the runway length.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-centerline by 10.7 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance of the Airbus A320 was satisfactory, with a score of 90.2%.
