MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
At the 500 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,132 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 379 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A321 then departed from runway 17 at ENBR Bergen Airport, Flesland, with a takeoff distance of 549 meters, which accounted for 22% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 132 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of 22 knots at 149 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the headwind was 21 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Flesland, with the aircraft ascending from 1,167 feet above sea level to 37,642 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,475 feet in 16 minutes and covering a distance of 76 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 63 miles west of Langevag, Norway, and lasted for 33 minutes, covering a distance of 209 nautical miles. The descent started 1 mile west of Ellon, Scotland, and the aircraft descended from 37,509 feet above sea level to 1,391 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,118 feet in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 91 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24 at EGPH Edinburgh Airport was made from the north-east, with the aircraft heading 239.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,269 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 24 was successful, with the touchdown distance being good at 381 meters. However, the touchdown speed was slightly above the target at 128 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -345 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.1 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of 27 knots at 200 degrees. The crosswind was 17 knots, while the headwind was 21 knots. The total landing distance was 1,338 meters, which accounted for 63% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.6 meters from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, a process that took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 383 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 79 minutes. The aircraft used 3,378 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Edinburgh Airport (EGPH) on runway 24, achieving a score of 93.3%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 239.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,269 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 127 kt, registering at 128 kt. This minor deviation from the target speed did not significantly impact the overall landing performance. The touchdown distance of 381 meters was within acceptable limits, demonstrating a well-executed landing. However, the touchdown speed of 122 kt was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a firmer touchdown rate of -345 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.1 meters from the centerline, indicating a slight deviation from the intended path. This misalignment may have been influenced by the crosswind and headwind conditions present during the landing. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 14°C and wind speeds of 27 kt at 200°, contributed to a crosswind of 17 kt and a headwind of 21 kt.
The total landing distance of 1,338 meters was 63% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 12.6 meters from the centerline, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced some drift during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite some minor deviations from the target parameters.
