Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,694 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 357 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Brussels Airport, EBBR. This process took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 25R, with the aircraft taking off after covering 38% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,155 meters, and the liftoff speed was 155 knots.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions of 3°C temperature and a wind speed of 7 knots at 140 degrees. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the tailwind component was 2 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Machelen, Flanders, Belgium, where the aircraft began its ascent from an altitude of 1,134 feet above sea level to 32,126 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 75 nautical miles and took 13 minutes, resulting in an increase of 30,992 feet in altitude.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Homblieres, Hauts-de-France, France. This phase lasted for 23 minutes and covered a distance of 148 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile northwest of Vingt-Hanaps, Normandie, France. The descent took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 123 nautical miles, resulting in a decrease of 29,163 feet in altitude from 32,295 feet above sea level to 3,132 feet above sea level.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles south of Machecoul, Pays de la Loire, France. This phase lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 10 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 03 at Nantes Atlantique Airport, LFRS, was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 27.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,259 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 03, which had a length of 2,694 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 128 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 357 meters, but the touchdown speed of 123 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -344 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 8°C temperature and a wind speed of 14 knots at 100 degrees, with a crosswind component of 13 knots and a headwind component of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,341 meters, which was 50% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 364 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 70 minutes. The aircraft used 2,284 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at LFRS Nantes Atlantique Airport, achieving a high score of 98.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 27.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,259 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 03, which has a length of 2,694 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 128 knots. However, this did not significantly impact the overall performance of the landing. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 357 meters, and the touchdown speed of 123 knots was a little fast, but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was firm, at -344 feet per minute, indicating a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.1 meters, which may require some adjustments in the approach and landing procedures. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 8°C, with a wind speed of 14 knots at 100°. The crosswind component was 13 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,341 meters, which is 50% of the runway length. This indicates that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating good control and stability during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop safely and efficiently.
