Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,753 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 474 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took approximately 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-600, then departed from runway 31 at LEDA Lleida-Alguaire Airport in Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. The takeoff distance was 996 meters, which accounted for 41% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 146 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at a direction of 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a tailwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting approximately 1 mile northwest of the airport, and climbed from an altitude of 2,136 feet above sea level to 39,088 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,952 feet, in 34 minutes and covering 243 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started approximately 85 miles northeast of Es Castell in the Comunitat Autonoma de les Illes Balears, Spain. This phase lasted for 97 minutes and covered a distance of 1,203 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting approximately 40 miles south of Beykonak in Antalya, Turkey. The descent took place from an altitude of 38,909 feet above sea level to 1,964 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,945 feet, in 20 minutes and covering 136 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started overhead Politiko in the Nicosia District, Cyprus, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 19 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 29 at LCEN Nicosia (Lefkoşa) Ercan International Airport was made from the east, heading 291.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,315 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 29 was successful, with a touchdown point located 52 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 119 knots, which was considered good, and the touchdown rate was -165 feet per minute, also considered good. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at a direction of 279 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 899 meters, which accounted for 33% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,607 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 162 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 8,800 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-600 aircraft successfully landed at LCEN Nicosia (Lefkoşa) Ercan International Airport, showcasing exceptional piloting skills and adherence to standard operating procedures. The final approach to runway 29 was executed from the east, with the aircraft heading 291.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,315 feet above ground level.
The landing was characterized by a high degree of precision, with a threshold height that was deemed satisfactory. The threshold speed of 128 knots was also within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilots had effectively managed the aircraft's descent and approach speed. Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 52 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which, although not ideal, was still within a reasonable distance.
The touchdown speed of 119 knots was also satisfactory, and the touchdown rate of -165 feet per minute was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilots' ability to maintain a stable and aligned approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a gentle headwind of 7 knots. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, which further contributed to the smoothness of the landing. The total landing distance of 899 meters was 33% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilots had effectively managed the aircraft's deceleration and had maintained control throughout the landing process. Overall, the landing was a testament to the pilots' skill and experience, as well as the aircraft's performance and handling characteristics.
