Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,789 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,789 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 720 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the departure roll from runway 22 at LESO San Sebastián Airport, where the aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, took off with a takeoff distance of 1,205 meters, which is 84% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 152 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 289 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 13 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile west of Irun, Spain, and ascended from an altitude of 1,128 feet above sea level to 29,799 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,671 feet in just 13 minutes, covering a distance of 66 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 7 miles northeast of Luesia, Aragon, Spain, and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 62 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 4 miles east of Fonz, Aragon, Spain, and the aircraft descended from 29,725 feet above sea level to 1,308 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,417 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 90 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24R at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport was made from the northeast, heading 246.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,287 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 24R was successful, with the touchdown point being 301 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 137 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -104 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 220 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 12 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,706 meters, which is 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. After landing, the aircraft took 6 minutes to taxi to the parking area from the runway, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 226 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 58 minutes, with a fuel consumption of 2,116 kilograms.
The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, successfully landed at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport with a score of 96.3%. The final approach to runway 24R was initiated from the north east, heading 246.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,287 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilots maintained a suitable altitude prior to touchdown.
Upon landing, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 147 kt, which may have been due to various factors such as wind conditions or the aircraft's performance. However, the touchdown speed of 137 kt was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -104 fpm was smooth, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilots maintained a stable and aligned approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 13 kt from 220°. The crosswind component was 6 kt, while the headwind component was 12 kt, which may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold speed. Despite these conditions, the pilots successfully managed the aircraft's approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,706 meters was 59% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated good skills and judgment in managing the aircraft's approach and landing.
