Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,801 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,801 m of the 3,746 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 666 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, the Boeing 737-800 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. Upon reaching runway 17L, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 1,257-meter stretch of the runway, which accounted for 31% of its total length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 150 knots, taking advantage of the 7-knot headwind and minimal crosswind.
As the aircraft climbed away from Shanghai Pudong, it transitioned into an enroute climb, ascending from 1,021 feet above sea level to 34,956 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 106 nautical miles. The climb was characterized by a significant increase in altitude, with the aircraft rising by 33,934 feet. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, maintaining an altitude of 34,956 feet for 51 minutes as it covered a distance of 429 nautical miles. The cruise phase was punctuated by a gradual descent, which began 9 miles northwest of Gongju, South Korea. The aircraft descended from 34,822 feet to 1,294 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 121 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached Incheon International Airport, it initiated its final approach to runway 15L, aligning itself with the runway from the northwest. The landing was characterized by a touchdown point 256 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 123 knots and a rate of descent of -186 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was excellent, and the aircraft came to a stop after a total landing distance of 1,726 meters, which accounted for 46% of the runway length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 666 nautical miles, and the aircraft consumed 4,303 kilograms of fuel during the journey, which lasted a total of 109 minutes.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 15L at RKSI Incheon International Airport, showcasing a commendable approach quality. The aircraft descended from 1,265 feet above ground level (agl) at 4 nautical miles from the runway, aligning itself with the runway heading of 145.0°. The approach was characterized by a stable and controlled descent, with the threshold height at 72 feet agl being well above the target, indicating a safe margin for the touchdown.
As the aircraft touched down 256 meters beyond the touchdown zone, the touchdown speed of 123 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -186 feet per minute (fpm) was also satisfactory. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill in maintaining the aircraft's centerline during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 18°C and a headwind of 1 knot, did not pose any significant challenges to the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,726 meters, accounting for 46% of the runway length, was within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was scored 89.8%, reflecting the pilot's proficiency in executing a safe and controlled landing.
