MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,652 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 301 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at Calgary International Airport, taking 5 minutes and covering 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 17R, with a takeoff distance of 1,448 meters, which was 37% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 155 knots, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of 1°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 179°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started 1 mile south of Calgary International Airport, rising from 4,594 feet above sea level to 37,174 feet, an increase of 32,579 feet in 12 minutes, covering 120 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 6 miles west of Jaques Farms Airport, lasting 15 minutes and covering 394 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 11 miles west of Rivers, Manitoba, descending from 37,172 feet to 3,735 feet, a decrease of 33,437 feet in 22 minutes, covering 132 nautical miles.
The flight continued with a series of climbs and descents, including a climb from 3,720 feet to 5,523 feet in 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles, and a descent from 5,471 feet to 5,002 feet in 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise 6 miles south east of St. Francois Xavier, lasting 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final descent 8 miles south of Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, descending from 5,012 feet to 2,057 feet in 4 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. The final approach was made to runway 31 from the south east, heading 318.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,266 feet above ground level.
The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 301 meters, which was good, and a touchdown speed of 129 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -204 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions were a temperature of -6°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 290°.
The total landing distance was 1,394 meters, which was 53% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 682 nautical miles, taking 69 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,973 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (CYWG) on runway 31. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 318.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,266 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach, achieving a score of 98.2%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 134 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed. However, the touchdown speed of 129 knots was slightly faster than desired, resulting in a touchdown rate of -204 feet per minute (fpm), which was considered fair. The touchdown distance of 301 meters was also within the acceptable range.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.2 meters, which may have been due to a minor deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -6°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from 290°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 3 knots, which likely contributed to the aircraft's stable approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,394 meters was 53% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient stopping distance to safely come to a stop. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of proficiency and control throughout the approach and landing phases.
