MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,467 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,549 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, TJSJ, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This process took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 10, taking off with a takeoff distance of 4,664 feet, which was 58% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 145 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started at an altitude of 420 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 32,004 feet, an increase of 31,584 feet in 18 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 87 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 55 miles south of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, and lasted for 46 minutes, covering a distance of 357 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its descent, starting 33 miles north of Catia La Mar, Venezuela. The descent phase took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 32 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 32,077 feet to 4,011 feet. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 12 miles west of Catia La Mar and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another descent phase, starting 7 miles west of Catia La Mar. This descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 3,517 feet to 2,668 feet. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles west of Catia La Mar and lasted for 19 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The final approach to runway 10 at Simón Bolívar International Airport, SVMI, was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 88.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,333 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 10, which had a length of 11,467 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 128 knots.
The touchdown point was 170 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 118 knots and a smooth touchdown rate of -146 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 23 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 81 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 50 degrees.
The total landing distance was 3,032 feet, which was 26% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 12 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 496 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 130 minutes. The aircraft used 12,275 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport, achieving a high score of 97.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,333 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 10, which has a length of 11,467 feet.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 128 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the landing phase. The touchdown point was 170 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. However, the touchdown speed of 118 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -146 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 81°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 50°. The crosswind and headwind components were minimal, at 2 knots each, which did not pose a significant challenge to the landing. The total landing distance of 3,032 feet was 26% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the post-landing phase. The slight misalignment of 23 feet from the centerline was minor and did not pose a significant risk to the safety of the aircraft or its occupants. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, demonstrating the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's capabilities.
