Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,532 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,532 m of the 3,340 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 466 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (KMSP), the Boeing 737-MAX8 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 7 minutes and covered 2 nautical miles. As the aircraft lined up on runway 12L, it was cleared for departure, and with a takeoff distance of 1,526 meters, which equated to 63% of the runway, the aircraft lifted off at a speed of 157 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 20 °C, with a wind of 11 knots at 127°, resulting in a 1-knot crosswind and an 11-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed away from KMSP, it began its enroute climb 1 mile west of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and continued to ascend to a cruising altitude of 37,433 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,750 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 111 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase started 2 miles east of Osakis, Minnesota, and lasted for 51 minutes, during which the aircraft covered 719 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 21 miles east of Wainwright, Alberta, Canada, and saw the aircraft descend from 38,005 feet to 3,708 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,297 feet in 15 minutes, covering 131 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached Edmonton International Airport (CYEG), it began its final approach to runway 20 from the northeast, heading 215.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,358 feet above ground level. The landing was executed with a threshold speed of 146 knots, and the touchdown point was 50 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 143 knots and a touchdown rate of -265 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 1,451 meters, which equated to 44% of the runway. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 969 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 5,199 kilograms of fuel during the 90-minute flight.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 touched down on runway 20 at CYEG Edmonton International Airport with a satisfactory approach quality, characterized by a stable and controlled descent. The aircraft was established on the final approach from the north east, heading 215.0° at 4 nm and 1,358 ft above ground level. The threshold height was good, allowing the crew to maintain a precise alignment with the runway environment.
As the aircraft touched down 50 m beyond the touchdown zone, the threshold speed of 146 kt was achieved, indicating a well-executed touchdown. However, the touchdown speed of 143 kt was slightly above the optimal range, resulting in a touchdown rate of -265 fpm, which was fair. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the crew's ability to maintain a precise centerline alignment. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 16 °C and a 4 kt headwind, contributed to a smooth and controlled touchdown.
The total landing distance of 1,451 m, accounting for 44% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration. Overall, the landing was scored 99.0%, reflecting the crew's proficiency and adherence to standard operating procedures.
