MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out. These checks are the approach's score.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,099 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 338 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Daytona Beach International Airport (KDAB) took less than a minute, covering a short distance of less than one nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 07L, utilizing 547 meters, or 18% of the runway, to achieve liftoff at a speed of 89 knots. Local weather conditions at the time of departure included a temperature of 16°C, with a 9-knot headwind at 89 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from KDAB, it reached an altitude of 9,860 feet above sea level in just six minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The enroute climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which lasted 43 minutes and covered 56 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, initially from 9,995 feet to 8,960 feet in two minutes, covering a distance of two nautical miles. The descent phase was interspersed with short level cruise segments, including a two-minute cruise from 5 miles southeast of Chuluota, covering 14 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 09R at Melbourne Orlando International Airport (KMLB) was initiated from the west, with the aircraft descending from 1,201 feet above ground level to 63 feet, at which point a go-around was executed. The aircraft then landed on runway 09R, utilizing 337 meters of the 2,886-meter runway. The touchdown speed of 69 knots was slightly above the target, while the touchdown rate of -251 feet per minute was fair. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also satisfactory. The total landing distance was 585 meters, or 20% of the runway. The aircraft used 12 kilograms of fuel during the flight, which covered a total distance of 186 nautical miles and lasted 83 minutes.
The final approach to runway 09R at KMLB Melbourne Orlando International Airport from the west was executed with a heading of 87.0° at 4 nm and 1,201 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a slight deviation from the target threshold height of 59 ft agl, resulting in a slightly above-target height at touchdown. The threshold speed of 81 kt was significantly above the target, indicating a high level of pilot control.
As the aircraft touched down on the 2,886 m long runway, the touchdown distance of 337 m was deemed good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 69 kt was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -251 fpm was fair. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 20 °C and a wind of 3 kt at 226°, contributed to a relatively calm and stable environment.
The total landing distance of 585 m, which accounted for 20% of the runway, was satisfactory. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was scored 92.0%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and control demonstrated by the pilot.
