Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,527 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,527 m of the 3,088 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 520 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport, also known as Lisbon Portela Airport. This process took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 02, and the takeoff distance was 1,782 meters, which is 57% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 160 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of 16 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind was 13 knots, and the headwind was 10 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Camarate, a location in the Distrito de Lisboa, Portugal, and continued to an altitude of 34,419 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,060 feet in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 103 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 4 miles south of LEWP Pista do Monte das Tezas Valencia del Mombuey, a location in the Distrito de Beja, Portugal, and lasted for 99 minutes, covering a distance of 786 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 6 miles southwest of Kasserine, a location in the Gouvernorat de Kasserine, Tunisia, and descended from 34,889 feet to 1,567 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,322 feet in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 115 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 10 miles west of DTTJ Djerba Zarzis International Airport Mellita, a location in the Gouvernorat de Medenine, Tunisia, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 09 at DTTJ Djerba Zarzis International Airport was made from the west, heading 88.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,248 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 09, which had a length of 3,088 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 136 knots. The touchdown point was 101 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 126 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was also good at -163 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of 16 knots at 70 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 15 knots. The total landing distance was 1,443 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 5 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 1,018 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 153 minutes. The aircraft used 5,790 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at Djerba Zarzis International Airport, achieving a score of 99.2%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the west, heading 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,248 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 09, which has a length of 3,088 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 136 knots, which may have been due to various factors such as wind resistance or the aircraft's weight. Despite this, the touchdown speed of 126 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -163 feet per minute (fpm) was also good.
The touchdown point was 101 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a wind speed of 16 knots at 70°. The crosswind component was minimal at 5 knots, while the headwind component was 15 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance.
The total landing distance was 1,443 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop quickly and efficiently. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline as it rolled out after touchdown. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft was able to come to a safe stop on the runway.
