Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,665 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,665 m of the 2,790 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 519 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LIMF Turin Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 36, with a takeoff distance of 1,631 meters, which accounted for 73% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 150 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 5 knots at 89°. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the headwind was 0 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of San Maurizio, Italy, where the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 2,116 feet above sea level to 5,237 feet above sea level, an increase of 3,121 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead Rivarossa, Italy, and lasting 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The next enroute climb phase began overhead Lombardore, Italy, where the aircraft climbed from 5,651 feet above sea level to 35,615 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,964 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 66 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting overhead Gryon, Switzerland, and lasting 339 minutes, covering a distance of 389 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase started 3 miles northwest of Burgdorf, Germany, where the aircraft descended from 35,751 feet above sea level to 3,527 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,224 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 84 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 1 mile north of Steinfeld, Germany, and lasting 3 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The next enroute descent phase began overhead Jersbek, Germany, where the aircraft descended from 3,046 feet above sea level to 1,335 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,711 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 23 at EDDH Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport took place from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 230.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 23, which had a length of 2,790 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 135 knots.
The touchdown point was 102 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 130 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -213 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.0 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 7 knots at 340°, with a crosswind of 7 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,583 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.7 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 11 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 567 nautical miles, taking a total of 110 minutes, and the aircraft used 4,329 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at EDDH Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport, achieving a score of 95.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 230.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,281 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 135 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 102 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center. The touchdown speed of 130 knots was a bit faster than ideal, and the touchdown rate of -213 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 4.0 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from 340°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the tailwind component was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,583 meters, which is 57% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-center by 12.7 meters from the centerline. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance of the Airbus A320 was satisfactory, and the crew demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing phases.
