Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,395 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 175 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Gran Canaria Airport, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles in 12 minutes. The departure roll took place on runway 03L, with a takeoff distance of 1,367 meters, which is 44% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 160 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Gran Canaria Airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 25°C temperature and a wind of 22 knots at 9°. The crosswind was 4 knots, and the headwind was 22 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,011 feet above sea level to 2,998 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise 3 miles east of Telde, lasting for 3 minutes and covering 14 nautical miles. It then began another climb 1 mile northwest of Arucas, ascending from 3,184 feet to 13,001 feet in 3 minutes, covering 17 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise 3 miles northeast of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, lasting for 5 minutes and covering 19 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began a descent 12 miles northwest of Galdar, descending from 13,008 feet to 7,008 feet in 5 minutes, covering 24 nautical miles. It then entered another level cruise 5 miles east of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, lasting for 3 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then began a final descent 4 miles southeast of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, descending from 4,810 feet to 2,858 feet in 3 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30 at Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport was from the east, with the aircraft heading 291.0° at 2 nautical miles and 811 feet above ground level. However, a go-around was initiated at 4 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 30, with a touchdown distance of 176 meters and a touchdown speed of 138 knots, which was slightly fast. The touchdown rate was very hard at -546 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.0 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 14°C temperature and a wind of 17 knots at 310°. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 16 knots. The total landing distance was 1,094 meters, which is 32% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in 2 minutes.
The total flight distance was 153 nautical miles, taking 52 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,997 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 30 at GCXO Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport, achieving a score of 97.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 291.0° at 2 nautical miles and 811 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on a runway with a length of 3,395 meters, and the threshold height was reported as good.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 142 knots, indicating a slightly aggressive approach. However, the touchdown distance of 176 meters was considered good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control and managed the descent effectively. The touchdown speed of 138 knots was a little fast, which may have contributed to the hard touchdown rate of -546 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind or pilot error. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 14°C and wind at 17 knots from 310°, resulted in a 5-knot crosswind and a 16-knot headwind. Despite these conditions, the pilot managed to maintain a perfect runway rollout alignment.
The total landing distance of 1,094 meters was 32% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and touchdown phases.
