Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,230 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,230 ft of the 11,467 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,468 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 09 at the SVMG Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport, located on the island of Isla Margarita in Venezuela. The takeoff distance was 3,937 feet, which is 40% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 177 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind speed of 6 knots at a direction of 63 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 5 knots. The aircraft climbed from 1,050 feet above sea level to 9,989 feet above sea level, an increase of 8,939 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The enroute climb continued as the aircraft flew over the SVIE Andrés Miguel Salazar Marcano Airport on the island of Isla de Coche. The aircraft then leveled off and entered a cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The cruise phase was followed by another climb, which took the aircraft from 9,991 feet above sea level to 21,981 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,990 feet, in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 60 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another cruise phase, lasting 13 minutes and covering a distance of 82 nautical miles, as it flew over the SVDA La Tortuga Punta Delgada Airport on the island of Isla La Tortuga. The cruise phase was followed by a descent, which took the aircraft from 22,102 feet above sea level to 3,992 feet above sea level, a decrease of 18,110 feet, in 9 minutes and covering a distance of 47 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another cruise phase, lasting 4 minutes and covering a distance of 9 nautical miles, as it flew over the Catia La Mar area in Venezuela. The cruise phase was followed by a descent, which took the aircraft from 3,660 feet above sea level to 1,516 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,144 feet, in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10 at the SVMI Simón Bolívar International Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading at 88.0 degrees and flying at an altitude of 1,331 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which had a length of 11,467 feet. The threshold speed was slightly above the target speed, but the touchdown speed was good at 104 knots. The touchdown point was 1,081 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown rate was good at -177 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind speed of 2 knots at a direction of 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 4,943 feet, which is 43% of the runway length.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 10 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 232 nautical miles, and the flight used 4,812 pounds of fuel.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport, achieving a high score of 95.7%. The final approach to runway 10 was conducted from the west, with a heading of 88.0° at an altitude of 1,331 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with a threshold speed that was slightly above the target at 116 knots. The touchdown point was located 1,081 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively safe distance. The touchdown speed of 104 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -177 feet per minute (fpm) was also good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 77°F and a light wind of 2 knots at 90°. The crosswind component was negligible, and the headwind component was minimal at 1 knot. These conditions contributed to a stable and controlled approach.
The total landing distance of 4,943 feet was 43% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the landing roll.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and rolling out on the runway with minimal deviation from the centerline. The high score achieved by the pilot is a testament to their skill and experience in conducting a safe and controlled landing.
