MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,794 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 454 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 23 at CYHZ Halifax / Stanfield International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,012 meters, which is 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -1°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots from 180°. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of CYHZ, rising from an altitude of 1,503 feet above sea level to 35,172 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,670 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 96 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 5 miles west of CYPD Port Hawkesbury Airport and lasted for 16 minutes, covering a distance of 129 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 58 miles east of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, descending from 35,181 feet above sea level to 1,309 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,872 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26 at LFVP St Pierre Airport was made from the northeast, heading 239.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,268 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 26 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 457 meters, which is a good distance. However, the touchdown speed of 134 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -229 feet per minute was fair. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -1°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots from 280°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,389 meters, which is 77% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 337 nautical miles, taking 63 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,261 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at LFVP St Pierre Airport, achieving a high score of 97.4%. The final approach to runway 26 was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 239.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,268 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a well-above-target threshold speed of 147 knots. The touchdown distance of 457 meters was also within acceptable limits, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 134 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -229 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite the slightly fast touchdown speed, the aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating precise control and navigation during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -1°C, with a light wind of 2 knots from 280°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was also 1 knot, which likely contributed to the smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,389 meters was 77% of the available runway length, indicating a safe and controlled rollout. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and navigate the aircraft during the critical phases of the landing. Overall, the Airbus A319's landing performance at LFVP St Pierre Airport was impressive, with a high score and a smooth, controlled touchdown.
