Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,614 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 426 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at John F Kennedy International Airport (KJFK). This process took approximately 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 31L, and the takeoff distance was 2,819 meters, which was 101% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 191 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 7°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 40 degrees. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the tailwind component was 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead Howard Beach, New York, and the aircraft ascended from 764 feet above sea level to 33,830 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,066 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 11 miles southeast of Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, and lasted for 29 minutes, covering a distance of 724 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 44 miles northeast of Jupiter Island, Florida, and descended from 34,060 feet above sea level to 1,422 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,638 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 110 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 08L at Miami International Airport (KMIA) was made from the west, heading 88.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,401 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 2,614 meters, and the threshold height was slightly above the target at 55 feet above ground level. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 144 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 428 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 139 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -369 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 24°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 140 degrees, with a crosswind component of 4 knots and a headwind component of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,450 meters, which was 55% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.6 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 957 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 77 minutes, using 7,624 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Miami International Airport (KMIA) on runway 08L, achieving a score of 94.8%. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,401 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 428 meters, which was considered good.
However, there were a few areas for improvement. The threshold height at 55 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 144 knots, suggesting that the aircraft may have been slightly fast on its approach. The touchdown speed of 139 knots was also a little fast, which may have contributed to a firm touchdown rate of -369 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.8 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the approach. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a light wind of 4 knots at 140°. The crosswind was minimal at 4 knots, and the headwind was 3 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment during the approach.
The total landing distance was 1,450 meters, which was 55% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.6 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the rollout. Overall, the landing was considered successful, but there were a few areas for improvement that could be addressed in future approaches.
