MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,664 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,664 ft of the 11,467 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,301 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 09 at the SVMG Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport, located on the island of Isla Margarita in Venezuela. The takeoff distance was 2,623 feet, which accounted for 26% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 169 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 4 knots at 72 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, but there was a headwind of 4 knots. The enroute climb started over the SVMG Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport and continued for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,094 feet above sea level to 23,963 feet, an increase of 22,869 feet.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 6 miles west of the SVIE Andrés Miguel Salazar Marcano Airport on the island of Isla de Coche. This phase lasted for 16 minutes and covered a distance of 105 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 14 miles northeast of the SVHG Higuerote Airport in the state of Miranda, Venezuela. The descent from 23,982 feet to 4,215 feet took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 89 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 21 miles west of Catia La Mar in the state of La Guaira, Venezuela. This phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 9 miles west of Catia La Mar. The descent from 3,762 feet to 1,503 feet took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10 at the SVMI Simón Bolívar International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 88.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,318 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 10, which had a length of 11,467 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target speed of 125 knots.
The touchdown point was 915 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 113 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -401 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 88 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 2 knots at 78 degrees, with a negligible crosswind and a headwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 5,378 feet, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 233 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 68 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 5,874 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport, achieving a score of 92.7%. The final approach to runway 10 was conducted from the west, with a heading of 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,318 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 915 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the optimal area. However, the touchdown speed of 113 knots was a bit faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown. The touchdown rate of -401 feet per minute (fpm) was also considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have been subjected to a higher-than-desired deceleration force upon touchdown.
Despite these minor issues, the runway touchdown alignment was deemed very good, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable and controlled approach to the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 88°F and a gentle headwind of 2 knots at 78°. The crosswind component was negligible, with a speed of 0 knots.
The total landing distance of 5,378 feet was 47% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the post-landing phase and was able to bring the aircraft to a stop in a stable and controlled manner. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing phases.
