Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,833 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 609 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 14 at LGKF Kefallinia Airport, where the aircraft, a TBM 850, took off with a takeoff distance of 297 meters, which accounted for 14% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 102 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 330 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 11 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead LGKF Kefallinia Airport on Kefallinia Island in the Ionian Islands, Greece. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 211 feet above sea level to 1,862 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,650 feet in just 2 minutes, while covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 2 miles south of Vlachata in the Ionian Islands, Greece. This phase of the flight lasted for 6 minutes and covered a distance of 20 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 16 at LGZA Zakynthos International Airport Dionysios Solomos, which was located to the north. The aircraft was heading in a direction of 163.0 degrees at an altitude of 850 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 16 at LGZA Zakynthos International Airport Dionysios Solomos was characterized by a runway length of 1,833 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was too high at 82 knots. The touchdown point was 172 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 67 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -216 feet per minute. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots from a direction of 213 degrees, resulting in no crosswind or headwind. The total landing distance was 736 meters, which accounted for 40% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centerline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, which took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 29 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 12 minutes. The aircraft used 29 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at LGZA Zakynthos International Airport Dionysios Solomos, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 163.0° at 4 nautical miles and 850 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 16, which has a length of 1,833 meters.
The threshold height at 57 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating a minor deviation in the aircraft's descent. However, the threshold speed was too high at 82 knots, which may have contributed to the subsequent issues with the touchdown. The touchdown point was 172 meters beyond the touchdown zone, suggesting that the aircraft may have landed slightly too far down the runway.
The touchdown speed of 67 knots was a little fast, which could have resulted in a longer landing distance. The touchdown rate of -216 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, indicating a relatively smooth touchdown. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the approach.
The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and no wind. The crosswind, headwind, and tailwind were all zero knots, which reduced the complexity of the landing. The total landing distance was 736 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, but it could have been achieved with a more precise approach and touchdown.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to the initial misalignment during the touchdown. Overall, the landing was successful, but there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of threshold speed, touchdown speed, and runway alignment.
